CDEL is proud to announce the second year of its Young Professionals (YP) Board.  CDEL’s YP Board is an auxiliary committee made up of young lawyers, law students and other professionals in the Chicagoland area, who want to get involved with public interest law and make a difference in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable and underrepresented citizens.  The YP board serves four distinct purposes:

• Be ambassadors for CDEL in the community, by fostering pro bono culture within the board member’s firm, as well as within Chicago’s legal community.

• Participate in recruiting volunteer attorneys to assist CDEL clients in a pro bono capacity.
• Assist CDEL’s full board with bi-annual fundraising initiatives.
• Prepare the individual YP board member for future full board positions.

The YP Board will commence on September 1, 2009 and will adjourn on August 31, 2010.  Terms for CDEL’s YP Board are one year in length, with a limit of five consecutive terms for an individual member.  The YP board will meet quarterly and minutes will be taken and approved at each meeting.  One member of CDEL’s full board will chair the YP Board to ensure that the YP Board is acting in accordance with CDEL’s mission, recognizing Non-profit Principles & Best Practices and upholding each member’s fiduciary duty to the organization
